Logging is when the trees are removed, processed and sold to mills to be made into paper products, furniture, flooring, oak barrels, etc.. Stumps and debris are left on purpose to assist in proper reclamation of the land. If the land is being cleared for farming or to be replanted back then additional steps (with the debris) will need to be taken in order to prepare for those processes. This can impact stumpage prices.
If the land is scheduled to be a volunteer regrowth, then debris is typically left spread out. This assists in helping the forest regenerate and reseed itself. (People often complain loudly about the mess left behind by loggers, but they do not understand that, in reality, the "mess" is there to help with nutrient distribution, erosion control and regrowth of the forest.)
Tree Service is where homeowners or landowners have to pay to have the trees felled, handled or removed. This is typical for singular trees, trees that can be counted (i.e. 100 pine trees), trees that need to come down in sections (due to nearby structures, utilities or other factors.) In addition, tree service is charged for clearing building lots and even on tracts up to 20 acres (and sometimes even more is if the landowner requests a "thinning" or if the debris needs to be handled extensively.)
Whether it is branches, logs, or stumps that are to be chipped, brush piled, hauled off or moved to another part of the property, all of this is considered "tree service" related processes. Landowners can expect to be charged for any sort of land clearing procedures whenever debris needs to be removed or dealt with at any capacity.
If you received a letter from us, we feel your timber has good value no matter what current "wood" markets are at the moment. However, keep in mind that a lot of the value that we are basing our opinion on was either from a drive by or an aerial view of your property. We will need to walk the land in order to make the highest and best offer we can possibly make. We have a partnership formed with a local sawmill and access to the highest log buyers in the nation, therefore, the prices that we can pay are the highest that you will find anywhere in the south for both pine and hardwood logs.
Carolina Tree Removal LLC is NOT a registered forester. If you need a specific forestry service that requires a State Registered Forester, such as a forestry management plan, we will refer you to the register forester that we have a trusted partnership with.
We are TOP Logger Certified and Fully Insured. We abide by all State Forestry Laws, Best Management Practices and adhere to all Stream Management Zones.
Timber Credits are ONLY for tracts in which homeowners or landowners have over 10 acres and want the property cleared for development/building - and are under a service contract by us to have tree service related services completed. (Timber Credits are NOT for logging jobs where only a timber contract has been signed.)
If the tract is determined to have a good amount of quality saw logs on them such as white oak or walnut, a stumpage price is given for the timber. This stumpage price, when the timber is processed/sold, will act as a discount against the signed service contract price. Partial loads will not apply and the landowner must have more than 10 loads of quality saw logs in order to quality for "Timber Credits."
This is beneficial if you have a tract that is greater than 10 acres and you need the trees removed/brush piled/chipped/mulched etc. - and the timber that is on the property is determined to be excellent quality merchantable timber.
If you are considering clearing land to build on it later, be sure to give us a call at 864 806 8733. We are the only company that we know of that is applying timber credits against clearing and grading bills - but you MUST have a signed timber and service contract with us before we can apply timber credits. When you call, we will come access the land to determine if the timber is good enough to be considered for timber credits. If your timber is good quality merchantable timber - and we feel you have enough of it to qualify for the program, we will sign a timber contract in addition to a service contract. We will pay you a top stumpage price which will help reduce the cost of your entire project.
That will depend on a few different factors. Timber Credits are based on current stumpage prices. Stumpage prices vary based on market demand, distance to the appropriate buyer/sawmill, and the quality of the log. Some types of sawtimber can yield a landowner $2000 or more a load where other types of sawtimber may only yield $200 a load.
To qualify for timber credits, landowners must have 10 acres or more being cleared off of quality timber. Partial loads will not apply and the landowner must have more than 10 loads of quality saw logs in order to quality for "Timber Credits."
If you have timber that has value to it, a stumpage price will be given at the time the contract is signed. Two contracts will be signed. A service contract with a total price for services rendered - and a timber contract that contains stumpage prices.
When the timber is cut and sold, a settlement sheet and tickets of all the timber sales will be provided to you. The settlement sheets will list each product, the total yield of each product and the total price of the stumpage. The entire stumpage amount will be added up at the end of the project and subtracted off of your service bill. Timber Credits applied can not be greater than the cost of services provided.
